Our investment thesis

Fleet management software was written for the office. The office isn't where the work happens. The retention math made the gap visible — and the carriers who feel it in their bones became the customer.

I. The unread bill

A retention number nobody puts on the slide.

Most fleet software was written for dispatch. It pings drivers about 0.4 mph over and treats 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. as the same kind of hour. The bill shows up somewhere the spreadsheet wasn't watching — in HR cycle time, in the $10,000 cost of replacing each driver, in the 80 productive hours lost while the new hire ramps. Carrier-level turnover routinely runs past 90% annually. The road sends a bill the office doesn't read.

II. The category claim

Fleet software written for the cab, not the spreadsheet.

Same commerce shape as the broader telematics market — subscription, per-truck, enterprise procurement. Different values inside: driver-centric, retention-led, trucking-native. We sell like a TSP. We act like a teammate. The competitive set talks about drivers to fleet managers. Platform Science talks to drivers.

III. Why narrow wins

OTR-only, by design.

Most fleet software vendors chase multi-vertical TAM expansion: ag, off-road, last-mile, delivery. Each vertical drags the roadmap toward a different operating environment. Platform Science went the other direction — OTR commercial trucking only — because the buyer profile, the regulatory surface, the labor dynamics, and the unit economics are so specific that depth compounds where breadth dilutes.

OTR-specific workflow patterns — drop-and-hook, bobtail, yard moves, deadhead — show up as first-class product surface, not feature flags. TSP-shaped commerce, a mega-fleet roster, and references from named carriers mean each new customer compounds the credibility of the last.

IV. How we measure

If they stay, we're working.

ROI charts and engagement dashboards measure what's easy to measure. Platform Science measures itself against retention. Every product decision, every roadmap tradeoff, every customer conversation grades against the question: did the driver come back tomorrow? Multiply that across 100M+ miles run on the platform and the math gets honest in a hurry.
